1. Continual Prayer- The bible tells to pray without ceasing. I don’t think I could make it without talking to Him constantly.
2. Open Doors - Pray for the right doors to be opened and the discernment to know the difference. We have new opportunities on the horizon that dad was going to tell you about soon. Please pray that these will be prosperous in bring new lives to God’s Kingdom.
3. Finances - You have not because you ask not. Our finances have always been tight. Anyone knowing us knows that our ministry is one of helping no matter what the cost. With one less income now we ask that you pray for our finances as never before. We all dislike talking about the money it takes to keep a ministry going. We are no different. Let me say this and I will move on. If you pray and God wants you to bless us in this way (be it tax deductible donation or services that you can offer) Glory be to Him. If you cannot we understand.
4. Health - Pray for the health of those left here. Road life is not easy, glamorous, or a skip in the park. (most are now visually seeing me and Curtis skipping and for that I am sorry) All joking aside, if you have ever been on a trip and need a vacation to rest from the vacation from which you have just returned you understand what I mean. The older you get the longer a mile is. Please pray for the refreshing of God’s Spirit while we are on the road that He might work through us.
There are many people asking what is next for The Barkley Family? The English language is one of the hardest to learn for people trying to learn a new language. Why would I say that? I am glad you asked. We can change just a few letters or words around in a sentence. We can put emphasis on one word in the sentence to make it have a completely different meaning. The word NEXT should not be there. It should be what are you doing NOW. We are still telling the story of Jesus’ saving power. We are telling about His love, comfort, joy, & goodness. We are telling of God’s excellent greatness. We are also telling of a loving but jealous God that wants your total commitment. No matter what the future holds as far as what our “sound” will be our story is God’s story and remains the same no matter what.
I will say this and close. I know there are a lot of people praying for peace and comfort for us in this time. Some people we have personally had prayer with asking for peace for themselves. There will be times when you feel like crying or giving up. There will be times when you can’t understand why you do not feel sad. You might not understand this but God just answered your prayers. Do not feel bad when He does this. This means you can spread that love and peace to the next hurting soul. There will be plenty in the days ahead. The next person you have to console might be me, your neighbor, a lost loved one, the next Billy Graham, or the next soul Jesus takes home.
If we don’t see you on the road we pray we see you in the air. We love each of you.
Words cannot express how much we appreciate the prayer and support in this time of loss. Our loss is definitely Heaven’s gain. The great cloud of witnesses has gained another choir member. We are trying to get to all the emails, letters, voicemails, and cards. It might take a little while with everything else we have to do right now, but rest assured we will talk to you again soon.
There have been people asking “what do you need?” It is a simpler answer than you might think.
